At the top of Astute’s product range, Sky saddles are the fusion of a captivating and elegant design, top Italian craftsmanship and the very best of our technology. Engineered and designed to cope with the stresses and elements of XC and Gravel riding, the Taca lends itself well to any bicycle, with reinforced areas along the cover exactly where the maximum stress and wear develop. Long life micro fiber inserts make gripping easy while making the saddle extremely resistant to abrasions with no compromise for general comfort.
I have only ridden the Astute Skyline Taca VT (Astute STVT) saddle for one 40-mile gravel ride in flat south Florida conditions on a Specialized Epic 29 hardtail. Of course, saddles are personal to each user and I've found that 135mm width saddles in generally suit me best. During the course of a ride I will get out of my saddle from time to time just to give my rear end a break, the frequency of which usually depends on the saddle. For me the initial test of saddle comfort is how many miles I ride before I take that break. In the case of the Astute STVT saddle, it felt good at the outset and I was at least 8 miles out before taking that initial break without giving much thought about the saddle after my ride started, another indicia of saddle comfort. I also have the Astute Mudline with carbon rails and my rear end likes both saddles. Both saddles are lightweight, good looking, appear to be very well constructed and come in attractive packaging. Far and away, Action Athlete Supply has the best prices for Astute saddles, which appear to have been discontinued, and the price represents excellent value for terrific saddle(s).
